Fixed capture time

Displayed capture times now match what was set on the camera. Previously, Aphera incorrectly used the file’s capture time shifted by its time zone offset.

To fix dates in an existing project, select All in the sidebar, press Cmd+A, and choose Photo > Re-Import Files.

Export with capture dates

Export naming patterns can use the date and time a photo was taken:

{exif:date} {exif:year} {exif:month} {exif:day} {exif:hour} {exif:minute} {exif:second}

For example, use {exif:year}/{exif:date}/{filename}.{ext} to sort exports into folders by capture date.

See Tokens.

Re-Import

To fix capture dates and other metadata issues, you can now re-import photos. Re-import reads a photo’s files again and updates its metadata and lens corrections. Your edits are unaffected.

  • Photo > Re-Import Files re-imports the selected photos. It’s also in the right-click menu.
  • To re-import the whole project, select All in the sidebar, press Cmd+A, and choose Photo > Re-Import Files.

Re-import also applies Lensfun data installed after import: photos that had no lens correction pick up a matching Lensfun profile.

See Re-Importing Files.

More improvements

  • Show in Finder for a project reveals the project file instead of the folder.
  • A project file outside a project folder exports to a <project name> Exports folder beside it. Previously, these standalone files didn’t support project-specific export locations.
  • When exporting, if a file doesn’t have a value for a token such as {exif:date}, a literal value of {exif-date} is used instead of Unknown.
  • Exports no longer write an extra OffsetTimeOriginal, fixing sort order in some cases.
  • Fixed the global accent color to provide more contrast in system controls.
