A new beta version has been released. This one is absolutely massive.
Stars and Grid
We’ve redesigned the photo grid and culling system.
- We’ve replaced Faves with Starred. You can now use standard
1-5keys to mark each photo with a star rating. Use~to remove any stars. - The
Starredview shows all starred photos, grouped by their star rating. - The
Rejectedview holds photos you’ve rejected (deletekey) - All views now have a new filter at the bottom to show photos based on their star rating
- The grid has been rebuilt from scratch to be beautiful and performant for 1000s of photos
- The grid shows metadata (name, camera settings, stars), which can be toggled with
/ - The logic for maintaining scroll position and selection across view changes has seen many improvements
Looks
We’ve replaced the Aphera Standard look with Base. Base is Aphera’s default rendering (“no edits”). We think it’s lovely on its own and a better starting point for your own creative decisions.
- Look shortcuts have been moved to
6-0keys to make space for star ratings at1-5 - The Base look is assigned to the
-key (next to0) - The
[and]keys are used to cycle through all looks.
Crop

- Crop overlays (thirds, quarters, and fine grid)
- Cursor changes to indicate drag and straighten gestures

[ ]keys to< >keys. This aligns with the/key for grid settings - In existing projects, Looks assigned to numbers 6-9 have been moved to the More Looks section

deletekey behavior: delete rejects, option-delete removes from view, and command-delete removes from the project - Fixed broken TIFF and PNG exports
- Improved metadata for all export formats
- Improved compatibility with obscure DNG formats
- Fixed some LUT formats that failed to import
- Actions like change Balance, set Look, and set Star require a selected photo
- Additional toast messages for many actions
